The "Sound Blaster Series Hardware Programming Guide" (SBHWPG) is designed for developers who would like to develop software that utilize the features of Creative's line of Sound Blaster audio cards.

The SBHWPG supports:

  • Sound Blaster AWE32
  • Sound Blaster 16
  • Sound Blaster Pro
  • Sound Blaster 1.x and 2.x

Developers who would like to utilize wavetable features of the AWE32 should download the AWE32 Developer Information Pack (ADIP). The SBHWPG covers the common programming aspect aspects of SB family cards, such as digitized sound I/O, MIDI Port I/O, mixer chip etc.

The ADIP supplements the SBHWPG and covers only features specific to SB AWE32, such as the wavetable synthesis, 3D Positional Audio, SoundFont(R) downloading etc.
